SAFEX® was founded in 1973 as a service provider and manufacturer of "SPECIAL EFFECTS" for stage, film and television in Schenefeld by Günther Schaidt and has been owned by him and his wife Renate Brühl-Schaidt ever since. The legal form of the company was later changed to a limited company.

In addition to the invention of theatrical fog in 1973, SFX services on location, i.e. in theaters and on TV and film sets, were also part of the portfolio in the past.Among others, well-known productions such as Klimbim (WDR), many "Tatorte" (NDR), "DER MORGEN STIRBT NIE" (Tomorrow Never Dies - James Bond film), Die Blechtrommel (cinema film DE), Die Wildgänse (cinema film GB) 2, Traffic (Channel 4 GB) and countless productions of German theaters and television stations were supervised.

Since 1998, SAFEX® has been exclusively involved in the production and distribution of chemical and technical effects for entertainment, science and technology, and the extensive international experience gained in the past is reflected in the competent advice and targeted development of current products.
