Celebrate Diwali in Switzerland

Diwali Festival of Lights - Celebrating with Fireworks

Every year, a special festival takes place in Hinduism: Diwali. In terms of its spiritual significance, it is most similar to Christmas in this country - in northern India, the festival is also New Year's Day.

Diwali translates as "the rows of lighted lamps". On this day, streets, stores and private homes are decorated with oil lamps and the night is turned into day with fireworks. This part is more reminiscent of New Year's Eve. In northern India, the god Rama is honored on Divali. On Diwali, he returns from exile to his hometown of Ayodhya together with Sita, his wife.

In South India, on the other hand, it is Krishna who kills evil in the form of Narakaasura and thus frees sixteen thousand women from captivity. In the state of Gujarat, on the other hand, Lakshmi, the goddess of inner and outer wealth and Vishnu's consort, is commemorated. Divali is her wedding day.

Fireworks and Diwali

Sparklers, small fireworks, suns, volcanoes - anything that lights up brightly, sparks and conjures up stars are the most popular fireworks for the Diwali festival. It is simply about expressing joy, but with the necessary calm.

Wish you a happy Diwali
